CASS disciplines ranked among world’s Top 10

Three ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences disciplines have been named among the world’s top 10 in the 2018 QS World University Rankings.

 

Anthropology (7th in the world), Politics (8th in the world), and Development Studies (9th in the world) retained their strong positions from 2017. 

 

In total, eight of the College’s disciplines were ranked in the top 25, including History (12th in the world), Sociology (13th in the world), Archaeology (14th in the world), Social Policy (17th in the world), and Philosophy (20th in the world).

 

College Dean Professor Rae Frances congratulated staff on their contribution to the College’s latest successes in the world rankings.

 

“Rankings and ratings fluctuate year to year, but our consistently strong performance across years is evidence of real strength,” Professor Frances said.

 

“The rankings demonstrate that the Australian National University – and the ANU College of Arts & Social Sciences in particular – is internationally recognised for its strengths in research,” Professor Frances said.

 

The aggregate categories of Arts and Humanities (16th in in the world), and Social Sciences and Management (equal 14th, up from 20th in 2017) were the Australian National University’s highest rankings in the 2018 QS World University Rankings.
